Future Films has extensive experience as co-producer on international co-productions and as executive producer on other productions. We can help independent producers to:

In international co-productions, we help producers to realise the combined financial advantages from more than one country. Acting as the UK co-producer, we navigate the regulatory requirements set out by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in the UK for co-productions and ensure that they are structured to meet criteria for British film qualification.

And, on the other side(s) of the co-production too, we have the experience to ensure that the structures comply with national and international laws. Titles we have successfully guided into international production include Fragile, Comme t'y es belle!, El Camino de los Ingleses, Flawless, Goodbye Bafana, Heart of the Earth, Max & Co, and Salvador.

Investor appetite for British-qualifying film exceeds supply, so we continually explore relationships with producers and financiers in other territories, including Canada, Australia, Germany, South Africa and Ireland. The tax benefits are widely used in these partner territories and we have good working relationships with each of them.

Future’s production team is led by Business Development Manager Carola Ash. Carola has over 15 years’ experience in the film and television business, having joined Future Films from Warner Bros International Television and, prior to that, Andy Garcia’s production company in LA, where she was head of development. Carola has been associate producer on more than 20 Future Films titles.

The other senior members of the production team reflect Future Films’ uniquely international perspective. Co-productions executive Alessandra Moresco joined Future in 2003, initially working in Paris on French/UK co-productions; producer Albert Martinez-Martin joined in 2001, with previous experience as production coordinator at TV3 in Spain; and producer Kwesi Dickson joined Future after an early career as one of Jamaica’s leading line producers and an education in the USA, UK and Cuba.

Between them, the production team share five languages, giving Future a special advantage when it comes to understanding and navigating the different international film financing regimes on behalf of its producer and investor clients.
